National Childrens Month in the Childrens Village
This month, the activities in MARIPHIL Children´s Village are all about the “National Children´s Month” which aims to raise awareness of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child declared in November 1989.
A varied program is promoting the Children´s Rights and besides, the children´s bonding should be strengthened.
Following the American reality TV-show “Amazing Race” our social workers prepared eight challenging stations which had to be mastered by the different teams. Also last Saturday early in the morning everyone was busy packing backpacks and loading food and drinks onto the big truck to set off to Eco-Park in Tagum! Right after the arrival children and housemothers explored the Park on bicycles. Afterwards, the kids and volunteers had the chance to prove their team spirit in various games organized by the teenagers who are part of our “Independent Living Program”. Each team did its best because only together it was possible to win a point. After a fair, funny and exciting competition the big outing to Tagum was rounded off with a soccer match.
